Fast-rising act, T-Boy, creates ‘AfroLife’

Sound identity has been an age long crisis in the entertainment industry and has accounted for the death of many potentially great music talents.

Owing to the ever shifting global soundscape, many musicians find themselves dabbling into genres that they believe will be profitable and keep them relevant. This has indeed worked for the likes of Wizkid, Davido, P-Square etc who have consistently adjusted their style to fit every sound era but the same success rate cannot be said for a majority of other acts.
Nigerian singer and songwriter, TBoy (Tochukwu Chukwudi Ezeji) has done his homework by quickly identifying this problem, and has now created a lasting solution that will not only bring clarity to his music sojourn, but to other artistes like him who are tired of boxing their content into unfitting categories.
The household names in Urban African Music right now are Afropop, Afro beats and Afrofusion and just like the ‘Lotto boys’ in the UK have defined their own genre as ‘Afrobbean’.
TBoy now refers to his own personal style as the ‘Afro Life’ genre. 2017 has, no doubt, been an incredible one for TBoy. He surveyed the industry atmosphere with his first unofficial release ‘Jeje’, before getting signed to his current label, Billionaire Minds Enterprise. He promptly dropped two hot singles, ‘Whine’ and ‘Kilofe’, both of which were met with very high applause from his rapidly growing fans. He pressed even further with a massive nationwide tour that saw him network and perform at the biggest entertainment media hubs in the South-East, South West, North Central and the South South regions of Nigeria. In February , Tboy teamed up with Rexpapi and Jesse beats to create an ultra smooth and deeply sensual tune by the title ‘Jeje’.
To carefully test the waters, a viral video was shot for it but following the immense reception, ‘Whine’ was released as TBoy’s official single and it can be easily said that this is where his Afrolife concept was birthed. Enlisting the magic strumming fingers of Fiokee, TBoy effortlessly fused Ibo highlife lyrics with contemporary elements to deliver the unquestionable banger, ‘Whine’; which was followed up swiftly with a super crisp video, directed by the multiple award winning Clarence Peters.
‘Kilofe’ is the most recent single still making waves all over. He performed it to a stadium full of fans at the recently concluded Phynofest concert in Enugu and all indications show that TBoy has paid his industry dues through his hardwork, consistency, versatility and admirable tenacity towards his craft. In a bid to end his amazing year in grand style, he has confirmed that he will be dropping his biggest tune yet and this one is aptly titled ‘Monica’. Rumours have it that this new Afrolife tune features a soon-to-be-revealed internationally respected guest artiste and in deep appreciation to his fans for their rigid support, TBoy plans to activate this release with generous end-of-year giveaways that will be announced across his social media platforms.
