REVIVE NIGERIA GROUP (RNG) SET FOR LAUNCH DECEMBER 7TH

Some Nigerians passionate about the unity of the country are set to launch a group, Revive Nigeria Group (RNG), in December to champion the cause of national cohesion, selflessness, service and sacrifice.

Speaking during a visit to Media Trust Head off in Abuja yesterday, the co-chairperson of the Group’s Board of Trustees, Aisha Waziri Umar, said members of the group were rattled by the level of divisiveness and hate among ethnic nationalities in the country and now want to salvage the situation.

She said the group mainly composed of professionals, who came together to discuss the state of the nation and how they could assist.

She said the main vision is to see a Nigeria where collective interest supersedes individual interests, thus the need to focus on national identity became the focus.

The Chairman of RNG launch organising committee, Hubert Shaiyen, said the group evolved at a time the unity of the country was most threatened from within.

He said the group, which is apolitical, seeks to occupy the public policy space with positive information and ideas about the country to ensure that “The voices of gloom and doom” do not sink the country.

A former information minister, Frank Nweke Jnr., who is also a member of the group, said he would not be part of any threat to the unity of Nigeria.

Nweke Jnr said the group would be launched to publicly demonstrate the unity of Nigeria and disabuse the minds of the people from divisive tendencies and hate.

The group, which is nonpartisan, with members drawn from both private and public sectors, would be officially launched on December 7 at Yar’adua Centre, Abuja.
