The Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu has denied the allegations that the Commission’s fight against corruption is one sided, saying the Commission remains focused on fighting corruption, no matter who was involved or how highly placed the individual might be.
He made the assertion during the passing out parade of 183 trainees of EFCC Detective held at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), in Kaduna yesterday.
Magu added that the war against corruption, is a war that must be all won.
Speaking earlier National Security Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd), has said the war against corruption has been strengthened with the passing out of 183 trainees Detective Course 4.
Gen Monguno (rtd) who was the Reviewing Officer at the POP added that the fight to defeat corruption in Nigeria and ensure the country’s future has been intensified.
“The fight ahead is for the survival of Nigeria’s future. It was the desire to develop virtues of love for the fatherland which was inculcated in you. You must be fearless fighters who would show no mercy to all who seek to destroy our country through corruption.
“With the advent of President Buhari-led Federal Government, the fight against corruption took a serious approach as a result of his political will to fight corruption. As you join in the fight, be aware that you have a reputation to keep.
The Reviewing Officer disclosed that the set of trainees is the longest trained group in the history of EFCC trainees, by spending 13 months.
He congratulated parents and guardians of trainees, while reminding the trainees that the journey has just started.
A total of 206 trainees commenced training on December 11, 2016, but some could not cope and only 183 passed out on.
Highlight of the event include presentation of awards to four trainees as follows; Best Overall Cadet went to Trainee O. Okpara; while Trainee E. Abili clinched the first runner-up, second runner-up went to M. Adeyeye; and the Executive Chairman’s Award for Command and Leadership went to Trainee C. Ekeka respectively.
