I lost relatives to Benue killings —Waku
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Senator Joseph Waku, on Wednesday, said he lost relatives, farmlands and others to the latest herdsmen attacks on Guma.
Waku, who hails from one of the communities in Guma Local Government Area, said the herdsmen bandits brandished sophisticated arms during the attack.
Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune on phone, Waku, while restating his confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari to tame the menace of herdsmen in the country, urged the president to dispatch military personnel to the troubled areas in order to avert future occurrence.
“I am directly involved in the two-day attack on my community because several lives were lost, including farmland and other properties.
“For now, I cannot quantify what we lost because some bodies of victims of the attack were yet to be found,” he said.
He commended Governor Samuel Ortom for his efforts at maintaining peace, despite the provocation from the herdsmen, noting that the governor would soon lead a delegation to the president regarding the attack.
