Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has dedicated the award presented to him by Independent Newspapers Limited as Governor of the Year in Security to the people of the State.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award yesterday at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Lawrence Onoja Jnr who represented the Governor said without the support of Benue people, the peace building initiatives of the Ortom administration would not have been possible.
He particularly thanked the people for the support he received before and after the enactment of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law and the resolve of the people to speak with one voice in the face of invasion and attacks by armed herdsmen.
Mr Onoja expressed the appreciation of the Governor to Nigerians for the support and goodwill shown Benue State after the new year attacks.
He restated the determination of the present administration to ensure that security agencies live up to their expectations by protecting lives and property in the State.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu presented the award to Governor Ortom on behalf of Independent Newspapers.
