[PHOTOS] 22 Students, Teachers Feared Dead In Ghastly Car Crash On Their Way To An Excursion In Kano

At least 22 students and one of their teachers from Government Day Secondary School, Misau in Bauchi State on Tuesday, February 13 lost their lives in an auto crash on Bauchi-Kano Road.

The accident occurred about 11a.m. and involved a bus conveying the students on excursion to a radio station in Kano. The accident, according to a witness, occurred when the bus conveying the students had a head on collision with an articulated vehicle while they were both trying to avoid a pothole at Samia Uku village.

According to an eyewitness, Ibrahim Adamu, said that the accident occurred near Maitama Sule College by Dudduru after a diversion because of an ongoing road construction in the area.

The bodies of the dead pupils as well as those who were injured have been taken to Gaya General Hospital.“The bus which was coming from the other side towards Kano was on high speed on the road which is under construction. Perhaps the bus driver lost control and collided with the truck that was coming from the opposite direction. We counted 26 persons who died,” Adamu said.

According to sources, the pupils, who were on their way to visit a radio station in Kano, were coming from Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the incident but faulted the casualty figure given by Adamu.
