Stop political wrangling and focus on developing the state, Sen Gemade charges Benue people.PHOTOS .



Senator Barnabas A.I Gemade representing Benue North-East Senatorial district has advised the people and government of Benue State to stop political wrangling and focus on developing the state. Gemade gave this advice when members of Benue Journalist Forum of Nigeria (BJFN) paid him a courtesy visit in his National Assembly office in Abuja. Senator Gemede said no society could achieve development without peace and love for one another.

He said unending political squabbles had denied the area of needed development and affected peaceful co-existence among the diverse inhabitants, he urge the people to support the government in its effort to ensure peaceful environment for meaningful development in the state. It is only when we are properly secured and united that we will now talk on development, he said.

He advised Tiv nation to put aside their culture and ethnic differences, emphasizing that it is only by embracing peace and love for one another that we could be united to move our state forward. He stressed that Benue state has able hands to make the difference in the development of the state. He promised to continue to act in favour of initiating project and programs aimed at improving the living standard of the people of the state under his constituent.

He pointed out that in spite of the existing Fulani herdsman killings everywhere in part of some communities, the state was able to live up to its mandate. Gemade charged the people of the state to work with their patriotic zeal in their individual callings, if the state must achieve the desire greatness. He said rather than arm chair criticism and engaging in pulling down our leaders, we should all join hands and work hard to attain the Benue of our dream, he called on Nigerians to be patient and to show some understanding to enable the present administration translate its vision into concrete reality, while calling on Nigerians to work together to promote unity, love and peace, and also to cultivate the habit of respecting constituted authority.

He maintained that, Nigeria must remain our common denomination in spite of different political and cultural orientation, adding that the task of ensuring peace and stability of the country was not a burden for APC, National Assembly or President Muhammadu Buhari alone but that of all Nigerian.

On security situation in the country, Senator Gemade challenged security operatives especially operation Cat Race (Ayem Akpatuma) recently launched in Benue state to be more alive to their responsibilities, saying that, they must reassure Nigerians and the international community of their readiness to protect lives and property.  He further pointed out that killings and kidnapping in some part of the country are a challenge to the security agencies, adding that, government and security agencies must reassure Nigerians and the world that they are capable of protecting lives and property of every citizen.

The Senator appealed to Nigerian journalist to always carry out their duties in all well dignified manner and show objectives in their criticism of persons and events in the country.
