NCPC set to tackle abscondment – Uja
Rev. Uja
A head of the 2018 Christian Pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission(NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has said the commission is set to tackle absconment stressing that absconment diminishes the image of Nigeria as a nation.
He disclosed this in Abuja at the bid opening for Air Carriers and Ground Handlers for the 2018 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise.
He explained that abscondment limits one’s capacity and voice.
He said “I want Nigerians to stop abscondment; Nigeria gives us a better life, a good life”.
According to him, the commission is working with the government of Israel and other stakeholders to see how this menence can be eliminated.
“We have inteoduced vetting that ensures that anybody with a scar, no matter how little will not be allowed to go on pilgrimage. We have also introduced a four step process of pilgrimage screening.
“This extreme vetting begings eapecially for the states we call the Red line states having the propensity to abscond. We will say no to their candidates untill such a person proves themselves worthy or the state government of such a person gurantees him or her”.
He said the ability to pay to go to Israel is not sufficient, ” it is the fact that tou will go to Israel and return to Nigeria to contribut to the development of the country that qualufies one to go on pilgrimage.
A total of 4 air carriers and 8 grandhandlers were at the bid opening.
