The 2018 Ecstasy Excellence Awards have come and gone but the memories will continue to linger in the minds of many who witnessed the occasion. The event which took place on the 20th of this month at the banquet hall of Apo Apartments, former Protea Hotel opposite Apo legislative quarters, Abuja witnessed a large turn-out in spite the prolong rains which started in the early hours of the day. 

The award seek to acknowledge and deservedly place honour on individuals whose deeds and performance have become models for the youth in the society to emulate. The event is also organized to promote young talents in music, comedy and fashion with a view of giving them a platform to excel. 

High point of the award presentation was when the chairman of the event and son of former Nigerian Prime Minister, late sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Dr.AbdulJhalil Balewa was called upon to receive the award of Lifetime Achievement. Dr. Jhalil, a medical doctor and Nuclear Scientist created the adult diaper for Pampers in the United States of America while Dr. Sylvanus Ehikioya was also recognized with a Lifetime Achievement for his invention of e-banking at the University of Manitoba, Canada. 

The organizers of the award, Ecstasy Plus Magazine were applauded for their contribution in promoting productive value systems and encouraging benevolence vis-a-vis social responsibility roles that can transform the Nigerian society into its deserved enviable position. 

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. AbdulJhalil Balewa lauded the publisher and editor-in-chief of the magazine, Mr. Lawrence Oduh for his efforts and doggedness having proven the test of time starting the publication in his days as an undergraduate student in the University. He urged all the youth present at the occasion to take a cue from Mr. Oduh and see him as a role-model. 

Also the guest speaker at the event, Arc. Aondover Lawrence Utsaha, a youth and governorship aspirant in Benue delivered an inspirational keynote address on Youth Alternative to Nigeria Leadership. He gave reasons why there should be a generational shift in Leadership in Nigeria and Africa at large and heap praises on Ahmed Buhari, presidential aspirant who was also present at the occasion. 

Fabmimi Blog's CEO Mimi Atedze was also honoured with the award of excellence in Online News Reporting.
