Amstel Malta Encourages Super Eagles Despite First Game Setback

The most anticipated football competition has kicked off in Russia with 32 nations around the world being represented by their football teams in a chance to claim bragging rights as the world champions. Amstel Malta, Nigeria’s premium malt and official malt drink of theSuper Eagles, has spurred on Nigeria’s team notwithstanding the loss to Croatia during their first group encounter on Saturday June 16.

The team started the game on a slow note as both teams took turns in possessing the ball. In the 32nd minute, with a corner kick fromModric, met by Mandzukic with a header, the ball was deflected off by Nigerian midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo into the net. The second goal for Croatia came through one of their six corner kicks, thanks to Modric. The team will continue their quest for glory against Iceland at Volgograd stadium on the 22nd of June.

This is the first time Nigeria would meet Croatia at an international tournament. Saturday’s game saw the return of Wilfred Ndidi who missed two friendly matches before the tournament

Urging the team on, the official malt drink of the Super Eagles – Amstel Malta through the portfolio manager, Nigerian Breweries, Non Alcoholic Drinks, Ngozi Nkwoji said “The Super Eagles displayed the resilient spirit that champions are known for in the match against Croatia and will surely do better in their game against Iceland”.

The loss to Croatia leaves the Super Eagles without a point but well poised to recover against Iceland on June 22 and Argentina on June 26
