Scores feared dead as Truck falls off Ojuelegba bridge and lands on vehicles

Many people are feared dead as truck carrying plywood has fallen off the Ojuelegba bridge in Lagos.

Initial reports had said that wood fell from a truck on Ojuelegba bridge and landed on people.

But according to Lagos Police Rapid Response Squad, the truck fell on three commercial buses and a private car under the bridge with many passengers believed to be trapped.

While the casualty figure is not yet clear, eye witnesses say at least 4 dead with many sustaining injuries. 

Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigerian Red Cross and the Nigeria Police are currently on ground and are carrying out search and rescue operations.

One twitter user who claims the accident happened right in front of her wrote, 'Container legit just fell from the bridge in ojuelegba on the cars right in from of my car I’m still in shock. These men are really pulling things apart just to get the people under the rubble'.
