Xmas/New Year: FG declares Dec 25, 26, Jan 1 public holidays


The Federal Government has declared Tuesday 25,  Wednesday  26  December 2018 and Tuesday, January 1, 2019, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations respectively.

The Minister of Interior, Lt. General (Rtd.) Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday, in Abuja.

In the declaration made via a statement signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director of Press for the Interior Ministry, Dambazau called on Christians and all Nigerians, in general, to use the festive period to pray earnestly for progress and development of Nigeria.

He also enjoined Nigerians to strengthen their resolve to maintain peace and unity in the country before, during and after the 2019 general elections, in the spirit of the season.

Dambazau said all Nigerians home and abroad should support the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its determination and sustained efforts towards a peaceful, united and virile nation, while wishing all Nigerians Happy Christmas and New Year celebrations.
