In a bid to silence the opposition political parties and their supporters, some officials of the Jigawa State Government have in many instances been using thugs to destroy all the campaign billboards and posters of the opposition, DAILY NIGERIAN authoritatively gathered.

In Kazaure Local Government Area of the state, the Special Adviser to the governor on Inter-party Matters, Bala Idi, was caught on camera removing campaign posters of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, governorship candidate in the state, Bashir Adamu.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports the incident occurred when Governor Mohammed Badaru was on his campaign train from Hadejia Emirate, Gumel Emirate and then to Kazaure.

According to an eyes witness who begged for anonymity, its known to so many that top officials in the government have their hands in sabotaging other politicians campaigns.

“Prior to the governor’s arrival to the local government, the LG chairman and some government officials had their thugs going round and removing the oppositions posters and destroying boards.

“There were too many thugs organized by the LG chairman and Baba Santali, who was a former commissioner of works and housing in the state and later defected to All Progressives Congress, APC.

“So many youths who were campaigning for other parties were threatened by the thuggery acts of the government officials,” the source lamented.

Speaking with DAILY NIGERIAN, the SDP candidate, Mr Adamu, who is regarded as the major contender for the number-one seat in the state, also decried how top officials in the state government uses thugs in sabotaging his campaigns.

Mr Adamu was a former member representing Gwiwa, Roni, Yankwashi and Kazaure constituency at the National Assembly under the administration of PDP, before defecting to SDP.

However, the state commissioner of police, Abdul Jinjiri, who admitted to having received several complains in that regard, promised to fetch out defaulters to face judgment, to avoid inter-party conflicts.

He also assured all the aspirants in the state that he would take no side in fighting against indiscipline.
