Father And Daughter In Secret Marriage, Offspring’s Fate Uncertain

A secret love affair between a father and his daughter, which produced two children has left the man, the lady and the children completely shattered.

The shocking revelation of the intriguing marriage between the man, an Asaba-based former employee of the defunct Nigeria Railways Corporation (NRC), and his daughter, with whom he had two children in secret, has left family members in shock.

Investigations shows that Sunny (surname withheld) had, in the course of his job at the defunct NRC, worked in Lagos where he met Bola and a relationship ensued. The union thereafter produced Funmi after a number of years.

As fate would have it, sources said, Sunny, 52, was never married to Funmi's mother who was said to have lost contact with him shortly after Funmi's delivery and the demise of the NRC.

Fate however played a fast one when, years later, Sunny relocated to Asaba and ran into Funmi in company of her friends who had visited from Lagos.

Expectedly, after they had met during an outing, and following their mutual compatibility, their old relationship resurfaced blissfully and the union produced another child.

Her mum, who had refused to be part of the relationship which her daughter entered into without her consent, telephoned a few days later to re-echo warnings against marrying Sunny, not knowing they were already on.

However, Sunny's relationship with Funmi took a different dimension when Funmi's mother succumbed, and visited Asaba to nurse her second grandchild.

But to her surprise, Funmi's mother (Bola) found that her son- in - law was her former lover for whom she had Funmi. She went on to show photographs which she and Sunny had taken as young lovers in Lagos.

The discovery from Bola, Funmi's mother, that night created a a huge row that saw neighbours wading in to salvage the situation.

More investigations revealed that, after heated quarrels last weekend, elders of both families moved in to urgently end the union that has brought shame to all parties involved.

Necessary traditional rituals were said to have been performed with the full consent of all involved.

The two children produced from the incestuous union were handed over to Sunny's sister pending when Funmi and Sunny fully recover from the shocking revelations that led to the dissolution of their marriage.

In the event, Funmi is said to have returned to Lagos with her mother, in an effort to deal with the shameful development resulting from her marriage to her father.

A visit to their house at Summit  Road  in Asaba revealed high tension, as family members still gathered at the premises to bemoan the sad story.

One of them,  Mrs. Ifeoma Enachi, said the fate of the children hangs in the balance.  She said even now  they want to know the whereabouts of their mother.

Elder statesman in the quarters Chief Benson Aisudo said Sunny may be banished from Asaba even though it was a family affair.
