P.D.P Finally Accepts Aminu Waziri Tambuwal As Speaker And Emeka Ihedioha As Deputy Speaker.

,
Respect,That was what the House of Representatives clawed back for itself on Monday when it refused to be corralled by Aso Rock and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and elected a Speaker of its own choice. The integrity displayed was reminiscent of the days of Ghali Na’Abba who presided over the House which asserted itself with vibrancy. On Wednesday, PDP National Working Committee (NWC) showed the new respect by accepting the election of Aminu Tambuwal as Speaker and Emeka Ihedioha as Deputy Speaker, 24 hours after the party had disowned them. Tambuwal (North West) and Ihedioha (South East) were elected against the wishes of the PDP, which had zoned the Speakership to the South West and Deputy to the North East. PDP leaders on Tuesday invited Tambuwal and Ihedioha to the home of the party’s acting National Chairman, Haliru Mohammed, to explain the palace coup. At another meeting at the PDP secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, the men insisted they will not vacate their seats. The party leaders accepted the action of the lawmakers as binding, but said this will not force the PDP to drop its zoning formula. They appealed to Tambuwal and Ihedioha to allow the party make inputs into the election of other principal officers of the House, in order to balance the inequality in the zoning arrangement. Tambuwal apologised to the party leaders for the disobedience of the party rule, but insisted that his and Ihedioha’s emergence should be accepted the way God has destined it. Mohammed replied: “Mr. Speaker you are welcome to your home, the headquarters of the party. You are right; We are not very happy with you at this moment. But we are quite aware that you and your colleagues in the House did not quite work in line with the policy of our party. “But you have not left the party, what has happened has happened, it is a surprise to us. We are not quite comfortable, but we have not rejected you.
