Duro Olowu Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation.
Duro Olowu’s presentation at Milk Studios evoked so much ”free-spirit” both
from the models and from the pieces, the prints on prints genius who
mentioned in his interview with MilkMade to have been inspired by the
works of photographer, Jacques Henri Lartigue & ‘The Windrush‘-
this being the migration of the Islanders into the United Kingdom; the
inspiration came more from how glam they’d still manage to look despite
the situation at the time.
Doing what he does best, Duro pulled off
yet another collection selectively clashing prints and overlaying soft
separates , vintage styling without a doubt with some floral madness
plus more. We would say we did sight some gypsy influences on some of
the pieces, art work influences too. The supposed perfect LBD Mr. Olowu
threw in the collection had the most unusual floral influx but we
absolutely love it. Pink & ‘Okra Green’ were strong colours on the
night. In one sentence, the collection unveiled women that were VERY
dressed up but showed off freedom in character – The kind of woman Duro
Olowu aimed at defining for this collection.
