Aliko Dangote Bags GCON! Genevieve, Stephanie Okereke,Osita Iheme, Yobo Others Get National Honours From Nigeria Government

It is that time of the year again when the federal government of Nigeria bestows upon credible and outstanding citizens of the country national honours and the list of people considered for the award is out. The business mogul who Forbes also named as the richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote of Dangote Group will be the recipient of the highest award this year. He would be conferred with GCON (Grand Commander of the order of Niger). The honour used to be an exclusive preserves of Vice Presidents, the senate president and the Chief Justice of the Federation. Dangote, who has made Forbes list as the richest man in Africa is considered an extraordinary Nigerian who has made valuable contributions to the economy. He also render big financial support to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Top entertainers such as Genevieve Nnaji,Stephanie Okereke, Osita Iheme of Aki and Paw Paw fame, Olu Jacobs and Kanayo O Kanayo are not also spared in the list (national honour list) this year. The federal government has considered them for the award of MFR (Member of the Federal Republic).
Fernerbeche Defender and super eagles captain, Joseph Yobo is also considered by the Federal Government for the MON (Member of the order of Niger).

The other individuals who made the national honour list are the Mr. Jim Ovia, the new head of service of the federation, Mr. Isa Sali, former first lady, Speaker House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tanbuwal, Attoney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), Mrs. Victoria Gowon and others. Mariam Usman, a commonwealth medalist has also been listed in the MON category.
