Nigerian Artists Brace-Up For The Ghana-Naija Music Concert.

The Ghana Meets Naija concert is largely regarded as a musical showdown aimed at settling the debate over who is supreme between two countries whose musical trends have continuously influenced and rivaled each other.
Last year’s edition was adjudged by industry pundits as a unanimous victory in favour of the Ghanaian artistes who excited the most with their performances on the night.
This year, the Naija acts are pledging to take their best performances to bear on the night to annex Ghana’s crown.
In typical Nigerian fashion, top Naija acts featuring on the bill have stated emphatically that come the night of June 30, they will outclass their Ghanaian counterparts.
The Nigerian acts billed to perform include African hip-hop heavyweight, MI, his Chocolate city label mate Brymo, whose hit single Ara is one of the most heavily rotated song on local radio and in clubs.
Another Nigerian artiste taking Africa by storm is Davido who is yet to perform his hit club banger Dami duro on any stage in Ghana. That jinx will be broken come Republic Day eve.
Also billed to take the stage in Ghana for the first time will be Don Jazzy’s leading lady and Nigeria’s finest female act, Tiwa Savage, who has three hit songs on heavy rotation in Ghana and Africa, Kele kele, Love Me and Oma Ga.
Performing from Ghana, are some of the biggest acts selling Ghanaian music.
That list include, 4X4, phenomenal dancehall first lady Kaakie, Ghana’s biggest act of the moment, Guru, Tema’s finest rap group R2Bees, and the Madman Kwaw Kesse with support from Keche, Chemphe, Bino, and Sala among others.
Whiles artistes from both countries prep for the major showdown on the night, the event’s organizers, Empire Entertainment, maintain that Ghana Meets Naija is a musical concert aimed at fostering unity between both countries, celebrating our brotherhood and similarities between our cultures and musical trends.
According to a release by organisers, contrary to the notion that the concert is meant to promote rivalry between the two countries, the show was instituted to promote unity and last year’s event succeeded in doing exactly that as it saw the huge attendance of Nigerians who had flown in all the way from that country just to witness the concert.
This year’s show will be much bigger than last year’s as the Ghana Meets Naija Concert stage is fast becoming an event that artistes from both Ghana and Nigeria look forward to performing on.
“The concert,” the statement said, “is aimed at celebrating what we have in common as sister countries not to cause rivalry; however musical fans from both countries have gained such an interest that such notions are to be expected. Nonetheless as the company behind this event, we believe that it is going a long way in solidify the good relationship between the entertainment industries of both countries.
