Turai Yar Adua's Lawyers Yet To Accept Land Swap Terms.

Lawyers to former first lady, Turai Yar’adua, are yet to consider the land swap deal suggested by First Lady Patience Jonathan to resolve the property dispute that has triggered lawsuit between both parties.
The proposal has finally been handed over to Mrs Yar’adua’s team, but a meeting to consider its terms is scheduled for Monday, a lawyer for the former first lady said.
Innocent Lagi, one of the counsels, said the outcome will be clear by late Monday. "Our position will be clearer after the meeting,” he said.
Sources have said the former first lady is being offered any other plot of her choice within the Central Business District, as a replacement for the contentious location earlier awarded to Mrs. Yar’Adua’s Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF), but later revoked and reallocated to Mrs Jonathan’s African First Ladies’ Peace Mission.
The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Bala Mohammed, said he revoked the land in the public interest.
Mrs Yar’adua had filed a suit challenging the withdrawal; and an Abuja High Court, on Tuesday, approved that both sides work on the possibility of settling the matter amicably following a federal government proposal for an out-of-court settlement.
A report of the progress of settlement will be filed in court on September 24.
Last week, Jonathan hosted wives of other African leaders in Abuja during which a foundation laying ceremony was to be performed on the land.
Lagi said nothing had been done on the land that could undermine the peace effort.
