Sex Manual For Ultra-Orthodox Jews Created For Newly Weds.
A sex therapist has created the first ever sex manual for ultra-Orthodox Jews.
Dr. David Ribner put together The Newlywed's Guide to Physical Intimacy which touches on subjects that may be uncomfortable for some, including oral sex and masturbation.
The 92 page book does not contain any images, although a sealed envelope at the back does contain sexual diagrams.
Mr Ribner says even though sex is a positive action in Judaism it has become so taboo that he felt compelled to create the book and dispel myths.
For example Mr Rider said the legend that ultra-Orthodox Jews are so worried about modesty that they have sex through a hole in a sheet is completely untrue.
In the introduction of the the book it states: 'You may be wondering how Torah-observant Jews can talk about sex in a direct way when it has not been done in the past, and whether the very existence of such a manual might violate the principle of tzniyus (modesty).
'This kind of information was once passed from parent to child; our impression is that this is no longer the norm.
As a result, many couples are left to face this critical area of their lives with little guidance or information. It is this void we seek to address.'
