Idomas Protest Killings In Otukpo.

The Idoma speaking group of Benue State Tuesday staged a peaceful protest in Otukpo to condemn incessant attacks and killing of Agatu people by suspected herdsmen.

The protesters, who converged on the Och’Idoma’s palace in Otukpo, discussed possible solutions that would end the rivalry between the cattle rearers and the Agatu people.
At the end, the group agreed that an official letter be written to the Sultan of Sokoto to notify him of the deteriorating development and also seek his intervention on the matter.
They also urged governments at all levels to enact a workable law against unlawful possession of firearms as a means to check activities of the invaders.
The convener of the rally and a lecturer at Benue State Polytechnic, Mrs Diana Ochoga, alongside other stakeholders formed a committee to meet Senate President David Mark to register the peoples’ protest.
