EbonyLife Tv Debuts New Reality TV Show Featuring Calabar Girls AndTheir Fattening Room.

Calabar girls are known to be wonderful women when it comes to taking care of a home and their man. Now you would get to know the secret to this myth.
Reality TV personality, Mo Abudu of Ebony Life TV is set to debut the first ever Nigerian based traditional reality Tv show. The reality TV show would shed light on the Efik people of Calabar and their Fattening Room called ‘Nkuho‘.more pictures after cut.

The Nkuho practice dates back to the  early cultural setting where young women were separated from the general public at a certain age and trained in the ‘ways of a woman’ . This includes house keeping, cooking, childcare and more. The aim of this was to prepare them for marriage and womanhood.

While the girls are in seclusion, they would be catered to by much older women who have been through this. Part of their duties was to feed the young ladies with healthy sumptuous meals, massage them, ensure they drink a lot of water and rest well. By the end of their training, the young ladies would be presented to the people spotting healthy waist lines and beautiful skin.
Ebony Life TV is giving this tradition a modern twist. Six young ladies have been selected from across Africa to undergo the training. The ladies would embark on a self discovery journey in an attempt to learn the true art of womanhood and to find true love…
The brave ladies are Roselyn Ashkar from Ghana, Sally Berold from South Africa, Stephanie Unachukwu from Nigeria, Patricia Kihoro from Kenya, Tshepo Maphanyanye from Botswana and Limpo Funjika from Zambia.
The series director, Heidi Uys had this to say:
“Nothing really prepares you for the reality of reality television when six young ladies from across Africa are transported a few centuries back to a time where thick waistlines for ladies were desirable.
In the Fattening Room they eat and then eat some more. But fattening their souls is really where it’s at when the ladies rediscover African ways that all women should know.”
This is a reality show you don’t want to miss, its a journey back in time that celebrates our African heritage.
