Zainab Bulkachuwa Nominated As Court of Appeal President By President Jonathan.

Judge Zainab Bulkachuwa has been nominated by President Goodluck Jonathan for the position of President of the Court of Appeal.
Her name has been sent forward to the senate after being approved by the president. If the senate approves she will head the second highest court even as Nigeria’s judiciary is also led by a woman.
President Jonathan had appointed Mariam Aloma Mukhtar as the Chief Justice of the Federation in 2012, making her the first woman ever to hold that position.
Mrs Bulkachuwa represents Gombe state at the Appeal court and was born in March 1950, went to Bar in 1976 and was promoted to the Appeal court in 1988.
She also served as a judge in Bauchi State High court and was once the Chief Judge of Gombe State.
She was sworn in as acting president in 2012 and is due to retire in 2020.
She promised to aim to push further the judiciary to a higher level. She said: “I feel happy, I feel elated, but I also thank God for bringing me to this stage. “I have to see what is on ground and then make my plans,”.
