At least one person was killed and many others injured in a fracas that broke out during a film shooting incident at Tanke Area of Ilorin yesterday.
Some youths suspected to be street urchins had engaged the police in a clash when they tried to stop a clash between locals and a film shooting group.
An eyewitness, Halima Ibrahim, a tailor, said the film company were in the area to shoot a scene of a new movie when the hoodlums demanded for land charges, called 'owo ile'.
Ibrahim said the company refused and hoodlums destroyed all the gadgets used in the firm production.
Ambrose Aisabo, Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident today. He said one of the suspects, who wielded cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, died on the spot when he was hit by the police bullet.
He noted that his men had no choice than to release the shot when the atmosphere became tense.
The commissioner said the policemen were overpowered by the hoodlums and this necessitated reinforcement by the police command.
He noted that the command would leave no stones unturned in ensuring relative peace in the state.
