Warri People Demand Release Of James Ibori.

Scores of youths, women and men, yesterday, protested on the streets of Warri, Delta State, demanding the release of their son, Chief James Ibori by the London Court on the case  saying that the court should release Ibori since it has no evidence against him.
The protesters, numbering over 5,000 carried placards with various inscription, some of which read, "Judge Pitts release Ibori for us for lack of evidence," "We want our son back", "You cannot keep our Ibori there when you lack evidence", "Our son is innocent," among others.

The protesters said that the decision of the London court goes against the grain of legal procedures because it reinforces the belief in some quarters that Ibori had been allegedly targeted for jail by hook or crook by the United Kingdom authorities for reasons yet unknown.

One of the protesters, Chief Gabriel Efeduku, a media analyst, said "The decision goes against the grain of legal procedures and is ominous because it reinforces the belief in some quarters that Ibori had been targeted for jail by hook or crook by the British authorities for reason yet unknown particularly because the procedure being adopted by the British court smacks of working from answer to question.

"What further gives us serious thought is that the credibility and the internationally-recognised and applauded British judiciary is being "showcased" to the world as not above human manipulation, dictated to and cajoled to suit outlandish proclivity of individual as against best practices in the legal jurisprudence.

"The likes of Clark have sullied the time-tested judiciary of Britain because the confession that they forged evidence to convict Ibori is an indictment of British judiciary. We are very much aware that if such an legal summersault and episode should happen in Nigeria, nay Africa, the British press will have a field day lampooning the Africa judiciary."

Chief Efeduku urged the London court to release the former governor on the case coming up today April 9 to 11, since it lacks evidence against him.
