Renewed Attacks On Tiv Communities Claim 9 Lives In Suswam & Tor Tiv'sVillage.

The deployment of troops in parts of Benue State to forestall killings between Tiv and Fulani herdsmen was not enough to prevent the death of nine Tiv yesterday after some communities were attacked by supposed the herdsmen. Renewed attacks on Tiv communities at Tse Chembe, Ifer and Tse- Gundu in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State left at least no less than 5 persons killed while atleast 4 were reportedly killed at Tse Torkula.

The attacks on the communities were said to have occurred simultaneously, even as the state government has called on survivors of the attacks to return to their homes. In the same vein, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is discouraging use of refugee camps for the displaced people which they claimed could be prone to attacks in the hands of the herdsmen.
Another attack of a settlement also occurred yesterday at Km 3 along Wukari Road away from Anyiin, the home town of Governor Gabriel Suswam as well as the country home of the Tiv paramount ruler Tse- Torkula in Guma where four returnees reportedly were killed by suspected Fulani marauders.
An anonymous source told Saturday Mirror that the suspected Fulani militia were over 100 and armed with sophisticated weapons. The source further claimed that the herdsmen operated for several hours without check from security agencies.
