A Certain PDP Loyalist From Benue Was Arrested Over Allegation Of Gun Running.
According to New Telegraph, politician in Benue State, who claims loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party ( names withheld) is now cooling his heels behind bars over allegation of gun running.
The PDP kingpin is reported to be supplying arms and ammunitions to armed robbers for their operations.
New Telegraph gathered that the arrest came barely five days after Governor Gabriel Suswam had lamented what he called the growing crime rate in Makurdi metropolis,
the state capital when he charged the police to brace up to curtail the situation.
Suswam had at the commissioning of the Radio Network Integration System and generators at the police command’s headquarters in Makurdi, called for collaboration to reduce the rising crime wave in the state.
But sources at the police Criminal Investigating Department (CID) confided in our correspondent that confessional statements from a team of five robbers led by ” a pastor” from one of the prominent local government areas in the Benue North East (names withheld), who have been terrorizing the state has allegedly been arrested and is being quizzed.
The robbers, New Telegraph learnt, had confessed using the arms to carry out five successful operations before they were picked up.
Investigations revealed, the politician, who is nursing an ambition for an election was arrested at his Makurdi business premises, but later granted bail in the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) with a chieftaincy title holder in his local government as surety.
