Falconets arrive Abuja from Canada.

 
 
The Falconets arrived  the country's capital city following their silver winner at the 2014 Fifa U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada. Nigeria national women's U20 team arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday evening following their second-place finish at the 2014 Fifa U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada.


The Falconets who lost 1-0 to Germany in the finals, landed in the country's capital city from Montreal, Canada after their three-week long tournament in North America.
Media Officer of the Falconets, Elizabeth Carr, told Goal that the African representatives on Monday evening departed Montreal to Toronto, before connnecting to Frankfurt, Germany after 7 hours and later arrived Abuja after 6 hours at about 5pm.

The Falconets were recieved at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye and were addressed by the Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo at the Abuja National Stadium.

Danagogo congratulated the Nigerian ladies for "doing the country proud and despite not winning the competition, suprassed their expectations by reaching the final."

Earlier in a chat, head coach of the Falconets, Peter Dedevbo told Goal that the Nigerian delegation led by Technical officer of the Nigeria Football Federation, Siji Lagunju arrived safely alongside the players and officials excluding US-based forward Courtney Dike.

Dedevbo, further disclosed that the Falconets were informed that the reception with President Goodluck Jonathan has been postponed for a later date and the team should be decamped on Wednesday morning.

"We arrived safely on Tuesday evening. we are grateful to Nigerians for their prayers and support. We were informed when we arrived that the reception has been shifted and that we will be invited by the President at a rescheduled date.

"The players and officials have been asked to decamp as we await the President's invitation for reception," Dedevbo told Goal.
