Benue Sanitation Agency Warns Against Littering Public Buildings And Streets With Campaign Posters.

The Benue Government on Monday warned politicians against indiscriminate pasting of posters and erection of billboards not certified by the appropriate agency.
The General Manager, Benue State Environmental Sanitation Authority (BENSESA), Mr Ediga Akpa, gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Makurdi.
Posters of politicians, especially governorship aspirants, are littering public buildings, streets and electric poles in Makurdi.
Akpa, who led officers of the agency in pulling down some of the unauthorised billboards and posters, warned politicians to refrain from indiscriminate pasting of posters.
“All posters must carry the stamp of the agency before they will be allowed to be pasted. All campaign posters and adverts in the state most carry our official stamp or they will be removed even when pasted. We have already informed all aspirants in the state on this development in our last meeting with them. We educated them on the environmental guidelines concerning pasting of posters and the erection of billboards as the illegal posters are defacing the state capital,” the GM he said.
He said that the activities of those pasting the posters were done mostly at night and by minors.
“We have permanently kept our men at the food basket roundabout in Wurukum, at High Level roundabout and in most strategic locations to prevent politicians from pasting posters there,’’ he said.
Akpa advised politicians to obtain clearance from the agency on where to paste and erect billboards to avoid legal breaches.
