Major Oil Marketer Kidnapped In Gboko.




Fuel scarcity may be witnessed in Benue State following the kidnap of a major oil marketer in Gboko.

The state command of the Nigeria police confirmed the name of the kidnapped marketer as CHICADEF

Daily Independent gathered that the marketer who was kidnapped at his residence on Mkar road in Gboko is the chairman of independent oil marketers in Gboko.

The incident led to the closure of all filling stations in Gboko on Wednesday, thereby causing fuel scarcity in the town.

As at press time on Wednesday, fuel in the black market in Gboko was selling at N200 naira per litre as against N150.

Also major oil marketers in Makurdi held a meeting in the town, where they threatened to shut all filling stations in the state capital to protest the kidnap.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue State Command, Daniel Ezeala said the police has recovered the Highlander jeep of the kidnapped marketer.

He said that the kidnappers who picked the oil merchant later abandoned his vehicle along the way in Gboko town.

Ezeala said the state Command in conjunction with the Area Command in Gboko was investigating the incident.

A business man in Katsina-Ala who was recently kidnapped was found dead on the bridge in the town one week afer.
