Suswam Sets Up Committee For The Creation Of Local Govt Dev.Areas In The State.



Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State has set up an eight- man advisory committee for the creation of new Local Government Development Areas, LGDA, in the three senatorial zones of the state.
Speaking on the occasion yesterday in Makurdi, Suswam asked the members to tour the entire state with a view to advising the government appropriately on the communities that would benefit from the new LGDAs.
He explained that the choice of the members underscored the importance of the assignment, adding that local governments in the state were in dire need of expansion hence the decision of his administration to the LGDAs.
The committee’s terms of reference include, “To extensively consult with communities, stakeholders, groups development associations and their leaders and traditional rulers, to invite written/oral memoranda and make recommendations to the state government and to advise on boundary adjustments.
