Addressing the mammoth crowd that thronged out at the IBB Square to welcome the candidate, Ortom said “Benue State needs a fresh air and the time is now


 

“I recognize the need to the move beyond present realities in our committed quest to create the Benue of our dream”.

“However, the state, at this critical stage in its history requires alternative thinking, good leadership and action if we must build a greater, free, just and compassionate community”, Ortom said as the people cheered.

The former Minister for Trade and Investment also touched some key areas that needed to be revived.

He continued, “Benue State needs more entrepreneurs, we need investors, we need capital, we need better schools, roads, we need more health facilities, and we need more water, more electricity and other infrastructure. We are yet to create a gender-friendly atmosphere for our people.

“Women friendly, youth friendly and peaceful society even disabled people are harnessed for collective development.”
Chief Ortom also presented his five point-agenda if made the governor of Benue State come February 28.

The five point strategies are (1) good governance and revenue security, (2) Agriculture- driven industrialization, (3) Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics- based Education and Health Service (4) Investment in Critical infrastructure (5) Gender, women Youth and people with disabilities.

Tony Trigger, who spoke on behalf of the youth wing of the party, called on all youths in the state to ignore the old cargos at the polls.

Among the dignitaries at present where the former first lady Mrs. Regina Akume, Mrs. Rhoda Akor, Hon. Herman Hembe APC Benue State, Chairman Comrade Abba Yaro, Hon Nelson Alapa, among others.
