Former Governor ,Aper Aku's Son Akua Aku Is Sole Candidate For House Of Assembly In Ushongo,Benue State.

The battle for who represents Ushongo constituency in Benue State House of Assembly in 2015 is finally over with the son of former governor of Benue state late Aper Aku,Akua Aku going unopposed, this is due to the fact that the major opposition party in Ushongo has failed to present a candidate for the election scheduled to hold in next month,

With INEC's dateline for the submission of candidates' names for state assembly elections expired yesterday, its been confirmed that the All Progressives Party APC never submitted its candidate from ushongo, efforts to reach the Party officials for the reason failed, but sources close to APC chairman of Ushongo local government Hon Abraham Sor revealed that the party on discovering that Akua Aku,the son of the first executive governor of Benue state Aper Aku was selected by PDP resolved to vote Aper Aku's son unopposed to show appreciation, solidarity and honour to their late son Aper Aku.
Unconfirmed report also has it that the incumbent member representing Ushongo on the platform of APC Hon.Terkimbi Ikyange has since declared his support for the former governor's son,Hon Akua Aku .
It will be recalled that the people of Ushongo had earlier dragged INEC to court for failing to comply with a court order that elections be conducted for two constituencies in Ushongo, that is Mata and Mbagwa constituencies, then ordered all political parties existing in the area to boycott primaries for the one house of assembly seat allocated to them, but later decided that political parties should present candidates for the election, it was then that the ruling PDP selected Akua Aku,Aper Aku's son as their candidate.

Report compiled by Bem Benson Richard.
