Guber Aspirant And 17,000 Others Dump APC.
A mass defection has taken place in Taraba state, where an All Progressives Congress aspirant in the recent governorship primary election has dumped the party together with 17,000 other members.
Yususfu Akirikwen, who staged a walk-out of the recent APC gubernatorial nomination, and thousands of other members, decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party, Vanguard reports.
Akirikwen announced his decision in Jalingo during the rally of the PDP guber candidate, Dickson Ishaku.
He explained that they decided to quit the APC because of the lack of internal democracy within the party.
He was quoted as saying:
“Four of us contested to be the flag bearer of the party in the state, one person out of us hijacked the whole process, we complain to the national secretariat of the party and nobody has ever call us.”
It should be recalled that a scandalous defection has recently taken place in Rivers state, where Tele Ikuru, Rotimi Amaechi’s deputy governor, dumped the APC for the PDP.
This comes days before the presidential election in the country, when the Nigerians will likely choose between the two major candidates, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.
