INEC Chairman Prof Jega Briefs The Press On Conduct Of 2015 Elections.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their peaceful conduct during the presidential
Here are some points i noted down.

#‎Jega‬ said people should be very very carefull with results they are posting on Social Media ,very few states have concluded collation,
ask FFK to tell you how he arrived at PDP winning in 22 states.

#‎Jega‬ substituted ad hoc staff allegations,inec is investigating the matter.

#‎Jega‬ only 2 states have finished collation so far .

You start counting 48 hours when substantial amount of polling units have concluded elections"- ‪#‎Jega‬

"Underage voting is against the law, we are investigating reports and will take measures once this is established"- ‪#‎Jega‬

it is heartwarming that the elections went well in a substantial number of the PUs across the country notwithstanding challenges"‪#‎Jega‬

I can tell you certainly that the failure of card readers surprised us and it is probable that the POs were not trained - ‪#‎Jega‬

We are not under any pressure to declare inconclusive elections - ‪#‎Jega‬

It is OK for people to state number of votes won by each candidate, but it is wrong to start declaring winner ‪#‎Jega‬

It is true that INEC office in Port Harcourt has been torched & we are waiting for detailed report - ‪#‎Jega‬


In 2011, we declared results of Presidential Election within 48hrs, we are working to break that record in 2015- Prof. Jega

I have the image of an underage voter in Taraba, we are investigating & it is clearly illegal - Prof. Jega

I received letter from APCNigeria asking that election in Rivers be cancelled. We are concerned & investigating - Prof. Jega


We have devised ways to pay contract staff, no one pays ad hoc staff before they have delivered their job - Prof Jega


Obviously crowd control at polling units is a challenge, there are lessons to be learnt from this election - Prof. Jega


Prof. Jega says no result has been collated/sent to HQ, Collation Officers count votes, can't declare results#Jega
