16 Arrested For Electoral Violence In Benue.
Police in Benue State have arrested 16 people in connection with electoral violence during the just concluded general elections across the state.
Spokesman of the command, ASP Austin Ezeani, said yesterday that some of the arrested suspects have been taken to Abuja, following the gravity of the offences committed. He said the others detained at the command headquarters in Makurdi, are helping the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the investigation.
According to Ezeani, the police also granted bail to those whose offences are not very serious, but on condition that they would be re-arrested when judicial workers end their strike in the state.
He said investigation has also commenced into the burning of INEC's office in Katsina-Ala, but that no arrest has been made.
