Open Letter To Benue Gov.Elect Chief Samuel Ortom From Akuse DidacusPaul Itiza.

Sir,
Congratulations on your victory at the just concluded governorship election in Benue State. I have chosen to write to you through this means because I know it will be difficult to reach you in person since by now the layers of reaching you would be thickened by unnecessary family relations and associates. However, I want to sincerely thank God for allowing us the masses to choose who will lead us in the next four years.read more

Sir, You are no stranger to Benue politics and the effect of godfatherism on your predecessors. Your emergence as the flagbearer of APC for the governorship election remains a mystery to many and this is based on two things; a) why you failed to cliche the ticket in the PDP and b) your political records but fortunately or unfortunately you have won the election and it is now let for you to proof your credentials.

Sir, as you may know the job of restructuring and repostioning Benue is a daunting task and this is due to the negligence, bad governance, corruption, etc of your predecessors particularly the last two who have failed to build one single company that is functional or resuscitate the ones built by Aper or Adasu or even Jang. These acts of negligence, poor government policies, and corruption have left us worse than we were before the return of democracy in 1999.

Thus your coming has given hope to us since you are described as "Mr. Industrialist" and that is why we voted massively for you at the polls, giving massage to you and anybody who has the intention of ruling Benue that "the power is ours" It has become pertinent to mention the key things you should consider as paramount in your first 100 days in office I.e;

1. To make sure that all the schools in Benue owned by the state government are reopened immediately
2. To settle outstanding wages/salaries of Benue state government staff.
3. To visit and findout why none of the companies owned by the state government is/are functional
4. To cut down the excessive spending on unnecessary event like Benue carnival etc which yields nothing for the state treasury but rather is an avenue of looting money.

Furthermore, you must be courageous and humble because your predecessors still have the monies meant for the state that they have looted and you will need to get back those monies as bait for the debt you will inherit. You must resuscitate particularly Taraku Mills, Katsina Ala fruit juices, Otukpo Burnt Bricks, The Voice,the fertilizer plant etc within these four year if you have an eye on 2019 failure to do these will invoke the wrath of Benue people at the polls.

Finally, there is a disturbing news on the social media that your first 100 days would be for reconciliation and Benue people are already asking questions like; who are you reconciling, are you sure you are ready for the job because we wouldn't wait for another four years of torture. 100 days is 3 months which is enough for us to gauge your performances so don't waste it reconciling people what Benue people want is not reconciliation, it is reconstruction. I wish you have an idea of the pains, expectations and yearning of Benue people that this victory of yours represent. May God be your guide.
Thanks and remain bless
AKUSE DIDACUS PAUL ITIZA
