PDP Leadership Strategize Ahead Of April 11 2015.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday in Abuja, held a closed-door meeting with some of its governors, governorship candidates and some state party chairmen.
NAN reports that the meeting was chaired by Alhaji Adamu Mu`azu, the PDP National Chairman.
NAN reports that the meeting, which started at 11.30 a.m., ended at 2.15 p.m. The meeting may have been necessitated by the party`s performance at the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Even aides of the party chieftains were asked to leave the meeting immediately after the national anthem was sung to signal its opening. A party source who preferred anonymity revealed that the meeting was aimed at re-strategising to stem a possible band wagon effect ahead of the April 11 governorship election.

Mu`azu had in a statement said that though the PDP lost the March 28, presidential election to the All Progressives Congress (APC), it was not downcast. “For us in the PDP, we want to state in very clear terms that we are not down. We are only at our redefining moment.” He said that rather than demoralise the party, the election had provided opportunity for the party to learn great lessons, saying that it was now more than ever before reinvigorated for the race ahead. “If the outcome of the election is truly the reflection of the wishes and aspirations of our citizens, the PDP will most willingly respect that wish,” the statement quoted Mu`azu as saying. He stressed that what was paramount to the PDP was the survival of the country`s democracy, unity, peace and progress and the happiness of Nigerians.

Nigeria, Mu`azu maintained, “is bigger” than any political party, individual or group, saying that its overall interest must be the priority of all. “As we return to the electorate for the April 11, 2015 governorship and State Assembly elections, we go recharged with faith in our heart. “We assure all our candidates in the remaining elections that the party will stand with you, campaign with you and work vigorously to ensure your victory at the polls,” he said. He further maintained that the nation was however at the threshold of history and its defining moment for the future.
