Benue State Gov ,Samuel Ortom Grants Amnesty To Most Wanted Gang Leader In Benue, Terwase Akwaza Aka ''Ghana''.




Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday announced the readiness of his administration to grant amnesty to a notorious criminal gang leader, Terwase Akwaza, alias Ghana, if he surrendered his weapons with his followers.


Governor Ortom who made the disclosure in Abuja yesterday when he met with Benue indigenes in the media said the objective of the initiative was to secure the Sankera axis.
He explained that he and his Taraba State counterpart, Darius Ishiaku, had to discuss and reach an agreement on the matter because members of the gang operate on the border between the two states.

According to him he had also secured the approval of President Mohammadu Buhari on the issue and had sent an invitation to members of the gang to surrender their weapons and get integrated into the society.
The Governor noted that the amnesty program of his administration was steadily yielding results and that if the leader of the gang and his members surrender as envisaged the security sector in the state would receive a major boost.
He stated that the security of lives and property in the state was a major priority of his administration which he said was determined to create and enabling environment for the private sector and investment in the state to thrive. 


The Governor listed the reopening of the Benue State University, release of funds for the accreditation of programs at the College of Health Sciences as well as the reaccreditation of the School of Nursing and Midwifery as part of the efforts of his administration.
Others, he said, were the commencement of payment of full salaries and constitution of the state executive council in record time while most states in the country were yet to constitute theirs.
