Air Strikes On Sambisa To Continue
Air Marshal Saddiq Abubakar, the Chief Air Staff, has said that Nigerian Air Force will continue its bombardment on the Sambisa forest, notorious stronghold of the insurgents.
Abubakar says daily airstrikes will continue until the Boko Haram will completely be defeated.
Saddiq, speaking in Yola while inspecting two newly acquired airplanes at the Air Wing of the 75 strike force, stated that the new aircraft would promote the morale of the soldiers in the counter insurgency operation.
CAS is looking for the support of people of the northeast on intelligence gathering, adding that no country can defeat insurgency without the active participation of the civil populace.
“Whatever intelligence report the people have will go a long way in assisting the military to Identify where the criminals are hiding because at times the terrain is too difficult for our military to easily penetrate. It is also difficult for an aircraft to identify a 13 year old girl carrying explosives except the people around her,” he said.
However, the Boko Haram sect has unveiled a new video, showing how hundreds of its members celebrating Sallah in Sambisa forest.
In 13-minutes video the insurgents are shown calmly saying Eid prayers together with their relatives.
