Residents of Yuen Long, a town in Hong Kong, witnessed two stray dogs playing with each other when one of the dogs ran into the street and was fatally struck by a passing bus.

Blackie, the surviving dog, went into the street to be by his friend’s side and refused to move.People who were passing by tried to coax Blackie out of the street, but it was no use. Even a local yard worker, who is reportedly the owner of Blackie tried to get the dog to move out of the way of traffic, but he didn’t wouldn’t budge.

Someone eventually moved the lifeless dog’s body to the sidewalk and it was only then that Blackie moved, but continued to lay near his friend.Blackie stayed by his friend and protected her from other strays.
For various reasons, it wasn’t until several hours later that someone from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department showed up to remove the body and only then did Blackie reluctantly move on.
