Gov Ortom Appeals To FG To Dredge River Benue.
Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has appealed to the Federal Government to expedite action in dredging River Benue to reduce yearly flood disasters in the state.
Ortom made the appeal at the weekend in Makurdi, the state capital, when the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Sani Sidi, led other management of the agency to present relief materials to displaced persons in the state.
The governor, who expressed concern over the effects of flooding to the people of the state, added that each time flooding occurred, the people of the state were not just displaced, farmlands were also lost to flooding.
