FG Trains 96 Unemployed Kano Indigenes Under GIS Programme
The Federal Ministry of Finance, under Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS has trained 96 unemployed graduates on self sustenance skills.
The training took place at Durbah Hotel, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kano and was sponsored by the federal government and carried out by the consulting firm, Blackwater Technology Limited, Wuse II, Abuja, Nigeria. The programme started on November 3 and ended on November 5.
The GIS programme was based on the, orientation and employability skills training manual prepared by the Project Implementation Unit, PIU, of the Federal Ministry Of Finance, Abuja, Nigeria.
The programme was initiated to cater for the staggering number of unemployed youth in the country. According to NBS 2011 survey, one out of every four Nigerians between ages 15 to 64 are unemployed.
According to Blackwater manual, the federal government is committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses to start, expand and create more jobs.
It said the Nigerian government regards unemployment rate unacceptable and acknowledged the fact that it cannot solve the problem of unemployment itself and alone, thus, the need to employ the services of Blackwater consulting firm to train graduates for employability skills.
