Gov Samuel Ortom’s performance had been rated ''POOR'' after six months in office in a poll conducted on BENUE.COM.NG to access what people thought of the Governor’s performance so far, in which 675 people participated, the majority (43%, 289) voted that the Governor had performed poorly while 55 (8%) rated his performance as abysmal. 1. Security through amnesty is gradually restoring peace and order to the State as illegal weapons are being turned over to the State Government in response to the amnesty deal. Herders/ farmers now at peace through advocacy, Benue, Taraba jointly took peace initiatives.
2. Introduction of cost saving measures in governance by pruning MDAs and EXCO members. Holding Retreat in Benue Peoples House, Makurdi instead of Obudu Cattle Ranch Resort in Cross River State.
3. Constitution of State EXCO in record time
4. Major intervention in the Judiciary – On-going renovation of Ministry of Justice Headquarters, Judges Quarters, appointment of Acting President, Customary Court of Appeal and two Judges of the Court
Payment of ward robe allowances to government Lawyers
Constitution of Council on Prerogative of Mercy and granting of amnesty to over 100 convicts.
5. Resuscitation of Benue State Council of Chiefs.
6. Procurement and installation of new Transmitter at Radio Benue.
7. Payment of regular full salaries and overheads of Civil Servants from May 2015 until October.
8.Negotiation and settlement of outstanding issues that paved way for the resumption of Benue State University (BSU).
9. Accreditation of Medical School of BSU after 12 years.
10. Released over N200 million for the renovation of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Makurdi, in preparation for the reaccreditation of the School.
11. Payment of salaries to BSU Technical School Staff after 5 years of non-payment of salaries.
12. Procurement of fertilizer at highly subsidized rate to the Benue farmers.
13. Attraction of various Local and International investors to Benue State who have indicated interest to invest in the state.
14. Government through frantic efforts is providing N5.5 billion as counterpart funding to attract over double of the same amount for various developmental projects.
15. Development partners have started coming back as a result of the seriousness of the government to pay their own part of the bargain.
16. Efforts are on for the establishment of Benue State Information Technology Development Agency (BITDA).
17. Paid N13 million as part of joint partnership of N20 million joint compensation between Benue State Government and Daar Communications to Mbaikyor Community for the establishment of AIT Radio and Television Stations.
18. Agric Centres at Otobi, Mbatie and Yandev are being renovated.
19. Payment of N600 million to contractor to restore water supply in parts of Otukpo and Katsina-Ala.
20. N28 billion bailout secured from the CBN and being disbursed to clear salary arrears
21. Release of N500 million for the construction of Makurdi - Gbajimba Road.
22. Release of N300 million for the completion of House of Assembly Complex.
23. Biometric verification of staff to determine the actual workforce in Benue State.
24. Efforts are on to increase the state Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through total overhauling of BIRS with the constitution of its Board.
