How Senator And Lawmaker’s Rift Scuttled Appointment Of LG Chairman InBenue State.

The lingering rift and power tussle between Senator Barnabas Gemade and the lawmaker for Vandeikya/Konshisha federal constituency, Hermen Hembe, has reportedly scuttled the appointment of a local government caretaker committee for Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State.

Vanguard learned that Governor Samuel Ortom, who recently inaugurated new caretaker committees for the 23 local government areas of the state, left out Konshisha local government due to the rift between the duos who hailed from the local government area.
According to the informed source, the duo, who supposedly control the politics of the local government area, could not agree on who should be appointed into the new caretaker committee for the area.
He said: “The fact is that the governor could not inaugurate a new caretaker committee for Konshisha alongside the other 22 councils because Senator Gemade and Herman Hembe who are the top APC politicians from that area could not agree on who should be picked.
“The disagreement stemmed from the fact the immediate past caretaker chairman of the area, Mr. Kor Adem, is a close political ally of Senator Gemade, and this time, Mr. Hembe is insisting that he should be allowed to produce the next chairman which the Gemade camp is resisting.
“It was the disagreement between the two APC gladiators that led to the failure of the political leaders in the area to select candidates into the caretaker committee.
“So, with the unhealthy development, Konshisha local government area is facing the prospect of not having a caretaker committee in place until the duo resolves their rift.”
Meantime, all efforts to speak to Senator Gemade and Hembe, on phone, on the issue failed as both lawmakers failed to pick their calls.
