I’m In A Hurry To Develop Benue, Says Ortom

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, yesterday said he is in a hurry to put the state on the map of development, especially now that the Supreme Court has put behind him the litigation against his election. The governor made the declaration while fielding questions from journalists shortly after he concluded the inspection of projects embarked upon by his administration.

Ortom, who was accompanied by some commissioners, advisers and the technical team, inspected the School of Nursing and Midwifery, which is undergoing renovation, the Greater Makurdi Water Works, the outer Makurdi Ring Road, which runs from Mobile Barracks to Welfare Quarters, Government House facilities, the Central Mechanic and Electrical Workshop at the Ministry of Works, Transport and Energy as well as work at the state Assembly Complex.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done, especially at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, where he promised to apply for accreditation as soon as the work there is completed, and directed that a budget for furnishing of the school be presented to him for immediate approval.

The governor, who also directed the Ministry for Water Resources to ensure that public water supply is linked to the institution, said while government is waiting for the final process of reticulation of the water works, the ministry should use the old pipes to ensure that water is supplied to the people of the state and advised that they should carry out immediate repairs in the event of any damage.

He restated his readiness to award contract for the construction of the Ring Road from Mobile Barracks to Welfare Quarters to link the people to Makurdi metropolis while a mega-layout would also be earmarked in the area for people to build houses and stay.
