Taiwan Elects First Female President.
In what is considered as a historic eventuality, Pro-independence opposition leader Tsai Ing-wen has been declared winner of the just concluded elections staged in Taiwan.
Immediately after votes were counted and the winner was declared, Eric Chu, opposition candidate and chairman of the ruling Kuomintang (KMT), conceded defeat.
Tsai of the Beijing-wary Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was on course for a landslide election victory as voters turned their backs on the KMT party which has closer ties with China.
