No Lives Lost As 60% Of The Birnin Kebbi Central Market Was Gutted By Fire.
Security was heightened in and around the market to prevent hoodlums from looting the traders properties. Some shops were successfully evacuated at the beginning of the inferno. An investigation is underway on the cause of the fire.
It can be recalled that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on the 10th of March had urged heads of public institutions in the state to always observe fire safety rules during his visits across the four emirate councils in the State. 'We must urgently look into our safety behaviors and measures'.
The Kebbi State Government commiserates with all affected by the fire. It is a monumental economic loss to the people and the state at large. Officials from the state government, led by the Chief of Staff of the government house, Alhaji Suleiman Argungu, and the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Mohammad Bashar, visited the scene to commiserate with traders that lost their goods.
