Ortom Sues For Peace At Easter.Read His Easter Message To Benue People.
My dear people of Benue State,
I greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ whose death and resurrection we celebrate as Easter.
For Christians all over the world, the major lessons of Easter are found in our Lord's immeasurable love and glorious self-sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.
This year’s celebration of Easter is taking place at a time that our country and state have had to deal with a very difficult economic situation. We must therefore be prepared and willing to make sacrifices to reposition our beloved state on the path of economic greatness. I am confident that the current challenges will not last forever.
The Easter period has also come at a time Benue State is facing a difficult security situation resulting from mass killing of our people in different parts of the state by herdsmen.
I urge you all to remember in your prayers, those innocent people who have lost their lives in Agatu and other areas owing to the crisis. As a Government, we are committed to supporting security agencies, in collaboration with the Federal Government and other stakeholders, to find a permanent solution to the crises, while we continue to explore every other available lawful means to ensure that these unwarranted attacks on our people do not repeat.
I sympathize with all those who lost loved ones, property, and all the affected.
Let us seize the opportunity of the Easter holiday to reflect deeply on what more we need to do as a people, to live in peace with one another, show kindness and forgive those who offend us as Christ Jesus thought us.
Let us all pray this Easter, that God Almighty who has brought us this far will continue to bless our state as we march onward in fulfillment of our collective vision for a new, truly united, strong and prosperous state.
I wish you all very happy Easter celebrations.
Signed:
Samuel Ortom
Governor of Benue State.
