Senator Says Online Media Has Redefined Journalism.

A human right activist turned senator, Shehu Sani, has said that the emergence of online media has democratized the flow of information. Sani in an interview said online media shapes and guides the currency of news both local and international and urged practitioners to be factual and report responsively.

“In those days, it takes days for one to get information. But now you get it within seconds” Shehu Sani said.

“Online media has redefined journalism. It democratizes journalism and made it a citizen base where everyone has the opportunity to write and transmit to an unprecedented number of people” Sani added.

According to the Senator, online media has broken monopoly and tyranny of news. “Now news comes with different perspective and alternative of reporting to the people about what happen and how it happened.”

“Online media importance is beyond measure. Geographically, the Northern Nigeria is still lagging behind. But online media can report the North, the truth and the fact about the North. Because impression matters more than reality and once you are overpowered, you are also morality and physically overpowered.”

“Online Media should let the world know about the Agricultural potentials of the North. Online Media must led the world know about the tourism potential and other natural resources that we have here in the north so that investors can come and invest” Shehu Sani added.
